How can I verify the source of my funds/ crypto?
We have 3 different levels of verification depending on what you have provided, which enables your account to have different limits.
If you have only supplied ID then you will be limited to $1,000, if you have supplied your address as well then your limits will be at $50,000 for your first month and then $20,000 per month after that.
If you would like a higher amount, then we are required to verify the source of funds.
This is a requirement for under Anti Money Laundering regulations.
If you want to increase your rolling limit and buy more than $20,000 of cryptocurrency per month you need to verify your source of NZD. (Note: you get a $50,000 limit in your first month, just to get you started!)
- If you want to buy privacy coins like Monero and Dash, you need to verify your source of NZD.
- If you want to sell cryptocurrency worth more than NZ$100,000 in total, you need to verify your source of cryptocurrency.
Some examples of sources of funds are set out below. If you have a source of funds that isn’t included here, just get in touch and we can help you out.

Verifying your source of cryptocurrency
If you bought your cryptocurrency through us originally, kei te pai! Nothing further required. As long as the crypto is still listed with us, you’ll be able to sell the same amount back to us, no matter what the value has changed to. E.g. if you bought 3 BTC from us and 10 XRP you can sell back 3 BTC and 10 XRP regardless of how high they moon. 🚀
If you got your cryptocurrency somewhere else, you’ll just need to provide us with evidence to show where this has come from.
Here are some examples or suggestions on ways you can show where you got the crypto originally:
Sources of cryptocurrency | Examples of evidence |
---|---|
Purchased on an offshore exchange |
|
Purchased through localbitcoins |
|
Purchased on a NZ exchange |
|
The cryptocurrency was mined |
|
The Cryptocurrency was obtained through sale of NFTS |
