Account Verification Requirements - New Zealand

Easy Crypto is a registered Financial Services Provider and as such we have to undertake identity verification to ensure the security of your account and the integrity of our exchange (as well as the digital currency ecosystem).

This process is commonly referred to as Know Your Customer (KYC).

Rest assured that any information we collect is securely encrypted and used only for the purposes of verification. You can see our Privacy Policy regarding this here.


Account Verification for individuals

To verify as an individual via our automated verification process, you will need the following:

  • A current passport or Drivers Licence

  • Proof of your current address or an address you have lived at during the last 12 months.

  • To make a sell order, you will also need to verify your bank account.

Note: Easy Crypto employees may ask to call you or complete a video call for your account security for verification.

If you’re aged under 18, we will need to collect additional information from your guardian. Please follow the instructions here and get in touch with our team if you have any questions.

Note: any attempts to verify using a fake age may result in a permanent ban from using our services.


Manual Verification

In some circumstances you may need to verify via our manual process instead. To verify as an individual under our manual verification process via email, you will need to submit the following via our site:

  • A clear photo of your passport or New Zealand driver's licence.

  • A photo of you with that ID, holding a handwritten note that says:

    "I am verifying with www.easycrypto.com No one has asked me to make this account.[Today's date]".


    You must be visibly holding your ID and note.

    A selfie is fine as long as it includes your full face, and you holding the ID and note.

  • And finally, a document showing your home address that meets our requirements here.

If for any reason you're unable to submit the required documents via our website, you can send the manual verification documents to our email address [email protected] and the team will get back to you as soon as they can.

Account verification for Companies

We can accept payments from a company account, but you'll need to go through our company onboarding process first. The New Zealand government has incredibly strict anti-money laundering laws that we have to comply with and we must do additional due diligence before we can accept payments from these accounts.

We assess the applications on a case-by-case basis but we can generally sort this out for you.

You can download these online forms as a Word or PDF document to fill them out. Once completed, fire them through to us and we'll take it from there.


Information on Trusts

Currently, we're not permitted to onboard trusts as standard customers on our platform, but there are certain cases where we may be able to grant an exception to approve the use of the funds from a Trust's bank account to purchase crypto.

To be eligible for us to consider this exception we'll need to see a copy of the Trust Deed and some recent bank statements for the trust (you'll also need a verified account with us).
